Dealer Type Approval
Type Approval Certificate
Type Approval is a process on an assessment made by AITI to make sure that any telecommunications and radiocommunications equipment meets the national safety standards and technical requirement in Brunei Darussalam.
Dealer Type Approval can be applied by any businesses (with a valid AITI Dealer License) who plan to import (bring in) telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment for resale purposes.
The Dealer Type Approval application is assessed based on the Brand and Model of the telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment to be imported. This application must be approved before applying for the Dealer Import Permit.
Dealer Import Permit is a separate application to allow Dealers to import (bring in) the telecommunications and/or radiocommunications equipment to Brunei Darussalam that has undergone the Type Approval process.
A registration document will be issued by AITI as proof that the specific Brand and Model of the telecommunication and/or radiocommunication equipment has been assessed and registered with AITI and it can be used, sold and distributed safely in Brunei Darussalam.
“If anyone is found guilty in altering official AITI documents on purpose, they can be chargeable under the laws of Brunei Darussalam in reference to Section 464 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22)”
Standards and Technical Requirements
The national safety standards and technical requirements in Brunei Darussalam refers to relevant international standards recognized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Some have been documented separately for Brunei’s market and users’ easy references:
